About Me

Hi, I’m Mike. So, here’s a little bit about me….

I was born in western Montana, and lived there until I was four. Moved to Minnesota, then England and France, back to Minnesota, to Wisconsin, back to Minnesota, to Illinois, England again, the Netherlands, the Philippines, and back to Minnesota… to Georgia, Tennessee, and then – you guessed it, back to Minnesota.

Back in 2013, I moved to Colorado with my wife and stepson, and we’ve been here ever since.

I have five children. Some are grown and some aren’t quite.

I’m a software geek for the government, working with a small team to help improve the lives of people across the state, and in turn the country.

I love food. Food is life. I like to cook, and the wife and I are currently working on some projects about that, like Broken Gringo, Starving Caveman, and the ever continuing saga that is House of Yummm.

Last year, I finally bought my first home. With the love of food ever-present, I decided to start gardening (we already had some of it setup from the previous owner, thanks Adi!). We’re currently growing several different vegetables and the like, but it’s our first time, so I’m mostly taking notes on what is working and what isn’t. Next year, I will be growing for yield. I’ll be sure to post about what we end up with, and maybe some of the progress along the way.

I love music. I play a little and write a little, but I don’t put any of that out—yet. Since becoming a homeowner last year, I have decided to build a home studio, I’ll be sure to post about it as the time goes on.

I suffer from a deteriorating spinal disease, it’s like arthritis of the spine, but worse. Because of it I’m in a lot of pain all the time. I get a couple procedures a year to sever nerves to help with the pain, but it’s progressive and makes some things difficult, like life. Because of this, I support and use medical marijuana. In doing so, I have done a lot of research to make sure that I put into my body what is best for my circumstance. With that knowledge, I am starting the Cannaservatory, the cannabis conservatory. News, story, tips, recipes and other knowledge marijauna.

As you can see I kinda like to write. So do some of my friends. We got together and formed a publishing company. Anshadar currently publishes mostly sci-fi and fanstasy fiction and live role playing games for all ages. You should really check it out.

Like I said, I like to write. I’m also quite opinionated. Ask anyone. And I don’t like to beat around the bush. That said, I have a place for my rants. At Caffeinated Tirades, you can find my opinions on a lot of subjects. I had taken a hiatus from writing on it for a while and just recently re-vamped it while clearing out the cobwebs. Goals.

Oh, and since I am such a geek, I host all my own stuff… and Anshadar’s, and some others with my tech company 1080 Solutions. Started that one with the wife and an old friend from high school back in Minnesota. It’s small and we like to keep it that way.

Last, just to keep myself on my toes and keep learning stuff, I’ve become kind of a Duolingo freak. I’m taking several languages and try to use it every day.

Outside of that, there’s yardwork, kids, friends, family, and a continuous stream of surprises and opportunities that I’m always trying to tackle, like how my wife calls me the perfect Pinterest bitch.

So, now you know a wee bit about me.
